Obama vows to keep up military pressure on Islamic State

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama vowed at the United Nations on Wednesday to keep up the military pressure on Islamic State militants and urged those who have joined the extremist group in Iraq and Syria to "leave the battlefield while they can." Speaking at the U.N. General Assembly, Obama said Islamic State must be destroyed. On Ukraine, Obama said that if Russia takes the path of peace and diplomacy, then the United States would lift its sanctions. Acorda buys Civitas to gain access to Parkinson's drug

(Reuters) - Acorda Therapeutics Inc said it bought privately held Civitas Therapeutics for $525 million to gain access to a Parkinson's disease drug in late-stage development. Acorda's shares rose 9 percent to $32 in heavy trading before the opening bell on Wednesday. The biotechnology company also obtained global rights for Civitas' experimental drug, CVT-301, used as an additional therapy to treat certain episodes in patients with Parkinson's disease.
